wtb w58 shifter hosing and ra40 bumper brackets

Postby ando9111 » Sun Feb 08, 2015 2:13 pm

I'm looking for a w58,w55,w57 shifter housing I believe its the 19 inch ( http://dellowconversions.com.au/wp-cont ... ing-19.jpg ) but with the shifter arm in the gear box as well. I have an 18 inch set up to trade if needed.

I'm also after ra40 steel front bumper brackets.

Cheers Shea

Oh mate! I went through all the archives and all the toyota books and manuals from all over the world to find that shifter housing. In the end I bought one from Japan brand new from toyota as spare parts because toyota here would only provide an entire gearbox or nothing.

There are other parts you also need to make it work, but I can't remember all the details as it was years ago. I "recon" I might still have the part numbers of what I bought if I can dig out the email.

One better actually, I've not had a chance to actually. Put it all in the w57 and it's still all in the box sent from Japan if you want pictures and more detail.

But, if you're keen on finding the part from a wrecker in aussieland, look for a 2wd petrol Hilux (I think their nick-named lo-lux) made in the nineties and early 2000's. The diesels and 4wd, had different gearboxes. I could only definaty pin point those shifter housings from the American model Tacoma's.

I hope this helps.

Awesome. I had the email achieved. These are all the parts I bought. Most we're required and some (from memory) were purchased to replace potentially worn parts like bushes or seals as purchasing from Japan is a luxury that I don't like to do often.

Shift Lever Housing (33521-35221)
Retainer Sub Assembly (33570-34010)
Shift & Select Lever (33251-30101)
Shift Lever Housing Pin (Bolt) (90109-08305)
Plate, extension housing oil baffle (33143-35050)
Bush, No. 1 Shift Lever (33548-31010)

The only thing I didn't realise was the way the gear lever bolts/connects to the housing is different from all other w5x gearboxes. So in hind sigh I should have bought that a gear lever to suit that housing as well.

Let us know how you get along.

Do tell. I haven't installed my w57 yet, but when I do, it'll be nice to have options.
